Since the beginning of May, Hammersmith Quaker Meeting have been working with the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham to help settle Ukranian refugees.

Every Friday refugees and their sponsors arrive for an appointment; the council use the whole building to speak to sponsors, inform refugees and keep children entertained.  Refugees can learn exactly what services are available to them and how to access these, as well as pick up some starter money.

There are always interpreters available and, it is hoped, we are able to offer some form of calm.

Quaker volunteers have been on hand throughout, showing kindness and patience: running the kitchen, calming distress and entertaining children - providing a friendly face in strained times.

To see the Meeting House used so gainfully, for such a purpose, has been a joy.

It is fantastic to see many more people appreciate and use this lovely space.
